Let's look at Grey's Anatomy for a second to get an understanding of subject and their position. If you are unfamiliar with the show, it is essentially lots of doctors (in various stages of their career) dealing with difficult situations in their lives and saving people in the hospital. They wouldn't be known as doctors, which is an example of what a subject is, if there was no social acceptance that those who wear white lab coats and wield knives and other instruments to save people's lives are called doctors.
Viewers of the show can take various positions on the show by whether they are or are not questioning what is depicted on the show. When viewers see the white lab coat the doctors wear, they usually don't question whether if they really do wear that or not, they take the position that that is what they really wear because it is 'normal' in society for that to be the truth. Society helps create a position for viewers to think that doctors live a fast paced, exciting, and glamorized lives, which is why the show has had over 5 seasons and counting. People who follow the show must have some psychological connection with it whether it is that they desire to be the doctors seen in the show or fear real injury/trauma in real life that they watch the show to live vicariously through it.

Without having society being involved with creating the subject matter, such as the doctors, the people themselves would just be ordinary people. Doctors wouldn't be associated with having high levels of education or having high salaries, they would just be same as everybody.
In the show there are various situations which the doctors encounter problems that they need to make important decisions. The viewers take on various positions on those decision by whether they agree with them or not based on their position, which is influenced by culture. There was an episode where there was a train bomb and massive injuries all came to the hospital where the doctors worked. No one knew who the bomber was until they found out it was this boy who needed brain surgery and they were running out of operating rooms. There was one operating room left and it was between the bomber and an all american college athlete to take it. This situation would cause viewers to take a position on what they feel would be right. How they would come up with this position would depend on their culture, which is shaped by society. Most would think nothing of having the all american college athlete take the operating room first, but some would.
I think you did a good job of utilizing basic concepts in the show to illustrate what some of our course keywords mean. Also, the only time I have watched this show was with a friend and it was when they tried doing a musical episode, so I didn't like it at all. Because of this, I was glad that you explained the plot of a different episode, because the only one that I have seen did not make me want to watch the show again.
